I have never been a member of a cichlid forum or group until today.
I bought a few Salvini and Jack Dempsey, and green terror juvenile cichlids at a local store and put them in my tank. Two of the fish paired up and dug out a nest in the corner of the aquariumand have gotten very aggressive. I put a flower pot in the tank and at some point the two laid eggs that were stuck to the upper inner side of the flower pot. The pair became very aggressive and killed off many of the tank mates. In fact, of the remaining tank mates the pair won't let them cross over the half way tank mark. I'd they do the Salvini will chase them away.
Here's my question, I recently was told that my Salvini paired up with a different species, possibly a Jack Dempsey hybrid? I'm going to post a picture of the pair. Could someone please tell me what the other fish is? The Salvini is the more colored one, the Jack hybrid appears to be more silver with greenish blueish highlights on the find. These fish are probably around 3.5 to 4 inches.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
I am having trouble uploading a pic from my smartphone. Says file is to large? Anyone know how to post a picture from a Android device?
I've never done this before.
